Why Steel Privacy Instead of Wood?
Steel never rots, warps, splits, or feeds termites — the four ways wood privacy fences die. It handles Gulf-South humidity, storms, and wind far better than wood pickets, holds a dead-straight top line for decades, and skips the stain-and-seal cycle entirely. That's why steel privacy is the fence we build our name on.
-
Never rots, warps, or splits
Steel doesn’t drink water. No cupped pickets, no split boards, no post rotting off at the ground line — and termites have nothing to eat. The four ways a wood privacy fence dies just don’t apply.
-
Built for Gulf-South weather
A solid privacy panel takes the full force of the wind, which is exactly where wood posts lean and vinyl panels pop loose. Infini Steel is engineered as one system — posts, rails, and panels sized for each other.
-
Keeps its lines for decades
The top of a steel fence runs as straight in year fifteen as the day the string line came down. No sagging rails, no leaning posts, no boards slowly turning into a wave.
-
Maintenance is a rinse
No staining cycle every 2 to 3 years, no picket swaps, no re-setting posts. The factory finish is the finish. Most owners do nothing beyond knocking grass clippings off the bottom rail.
What Is Infini Steel?
Infini Steel is our exclusive steel privacy system: interlocking steel panels with a clean, modern profile, hung on steel posts and rails, installed only by Holden Fence. It's the reason we call ourselves steel privacy specialists — 400,000+ linear feet of fence across nine states taught us exactly what a privacy fence should be, and Infini Steel is that answer.
- The panels
Interlocking steel privacy
- Panels lock into each other for a solid, full-privacy face
- No gaps opening up over time — steel doesn’t shrink or dry
- Flat, uniform profile with crisp shadow lines at each interlock
- Both sides look finished; there’s no “good side” to argue over
- The frame
Steel posts and rails
- Galvanized steel posts set in concrete, plumb-checked twice
- Rails sized to the panel system, not pulled from a parts bin
- The frame and the infill move as one piece in wind
- Same deep-set discipline as our wood builds, minus the rot
- The exclusive
Only from Holden Fence
- The Infini Steel system is exclusive to Holden Fence
- One crew standard on every install, in every region
- Backed by our 1-Year Workmanship Warranty

What's Inside a Steel Privacy Fence?
The same skeleton as our best wood builds — posts set deep in concrete, rails between them — with every wood failure point swapped for steel. Galvanized steel posts and rails carry interlocking privacy panels with a factory-applied finish, and the whole assembly is engineered as one system rather than parts pulled from three suppliers.
The Parts, Plainly
- Posts
- Galvanized steel, set in concrete and checked plumb twice — the same deep-set discipline as our wood builds, without the failure point at the ground line.
- Rails
- Steel rails sized to the panel system, so the frame and the infill carry wind together instead of working against each other.
- Panels
- Interlocking steel privacy panels with a flat, uniform face. Full privacy on day one and in year fifteen, because nothing dries out or pulls apart.
- Finish
- Galvanized base under a factory-applied finish coat in the powder-coat class of durability — applied in controlled conditions before the fence reaches your yard, not brushed on after.
- Hardware
- Coated exterior-grade fasteners matched to the panel finish, so the whole fence line reads as one color.
Why the Factory Finish Matters
The coating on a steel fence is applied in controlled conditions before the panels ever see a jobsite — even coverage, cured hard, bonded to a galvanized base. Field-painted steel can't match that, and wood needs its finish reapplied every 2 to 3 years just to reach its rated lifespan. On Infini Steel, the finish you see at the walkthrough is the finish, period.
Numbers We Publish When They're Final
Panel gauges, dimensions, and engineering documentation for the Infini Steel line are being finalized now, and we'd rather publish nothing than publish a number we can't stand behind. What's already firm: galvanized steel throughout, concrete-set posts, a system engineered for wind, and our 1-Year Workmanship Warranty on every install.
What Does a Steel Privacy Fence Look Like?
Nothing like chain link, and nothing like the side of a metal building. Infini Steel reads as clean, architectural lines: a flat panel face, crisp shadow reveals at each interlock, and deep, modern finishes that sit well against brick, stone, and wood decks. Both sides look finished, so there's no good-side argument with the neighbor.

The launch color lineup is being photographed now — real panels in real yards, never renders. Until it lands, the estimator shows the current finish options for your area.

How Does Steel Compare to Wood and Vinyl?
Steel is the only one of the three that ignores water, insects, and sun all at once. Wood needs a faithful stain-and-seal cycle to reach its lifespan, and vinyl grows brittle with age and replaces a whole panel at a time when it cracks. Here's how they stack up on the things that actually kill fences.
| Factor | Steel privacy | Wood privacy | Vinyl privacy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Longevity | Built to outlast both — steel doesn’t rot, dry out, or go brittle | 10 to 20 years, decided mostly by the staining habit | Long-lived, but grows brittle with age and sun |
| Maintenance | An occasional rinse | Stain and seal every 2 to 3 years | Wash-downs; full panel replacement when one cracks |
| Wind & storms | Posts, rails, and panels engineered as one system for wind | Solid panels catch wind; wood posts lean over the years | Panels can pop from their rails in strong gusts |
| Termites & rot | Nothing to eat, nothing to rot | The two most common ways wood fences die | Immune to both |
| The look | Flat, architectural panel face, finished on both sides | Warm and traditional; grays without stain | Clean but plastic-sheen; limited profiles |
Steel Privacy Questions, Answered
Will a steel privacy fence rust?
The panels and frame are galvanized steel under a factory finish — built for Gulf-South humidity from the start. Rust needs bare metal, and the galvanized layer is the barrier that keeps a surface scratch from becoming a problem. Damage deep enough to expose bare steel should be touched up, the same way you'd treat a chip on a car, and we show you how at the walkthrough.
How much maintenance does a steel privacy fence need?
An occasional rinse. There's no staining cycle every 2 to 3 years, no picket swaps, no re-setting leaning posts — the jobs that fill a wood fence's calendar just don't exist here. The most common "maintenance" our crews hear about is knocking grass clippings off the bottom rail after mowing. The factory finish is the finish.
How long does a steel privacy fence installation take?
Most installs run one to three days on site: posts set in concrete first and left to cure, then rails and panels go up. From approved quote to finished fence, plan on one to three weeks depending on materials, permits, and weather. You get a scheduled install date when you approve the quote, and payments don't start until the fence is in.
Does steel privacy work on sloped yards?
Yes. Every post is set individually to grade, so the fence can step down a slope in clean, even increments while each panel top stays dead level — the crisp version of what wood does with a wavy cut line. On gentle grades the line can follow the ground more closely. We confirm the stepping plan with you at layout, before the first hole is dug.
